Moore Educational STEM Learning Labs ignite children's interest in STEM, by providing them with tools and tasks that spark curiosity to find out how things work. Machines are used in our lives every day. In this Learning Lab students build mechanical toys and explore gears, while discovering how real toys work.
Get your students into gear with STEM and discover how the real world works. In this STEM Learning Lab students investigate mechanical principles of gearing, engage in scientific inquiry and design engineering while building a merry go-round and exploring how gear ratios change the speed of the ride.
What makes students successful in STEM is the confidence to create and code. In this workshop students will use the design process to investigate solutions to the real-world problem of “Clean up Australia”. They will build, test, and evaluate their robotic prototypes using LEGO Education SPIKE Prime and scratch-based coding. Please note Schools need to supply student devices with app loaded.
Virtual Master Builder Incursion - The children in year 2 loved the LEGO incursion and have enjoyed remaking, being timed and racing their peers to build their tower creation. We found Imogen to be patient with the children (and teachers) and very clear in her instructions and requirements for the children.
The students loved visiting the STEM Learning Centre! It was the perfect excursion to go with our unit on Simple Machines. Lots of opportunities for trial and error and experimenting. The students had so much fun and built an understanding of Pulleys, Wheels & axles and Gears in a very hands-on way.
Our grade 5/6 students were thoroughly engaged in the robotic design session. The challenge activities and the innovation part was a great way to extend their thinking and design/building skills.
